At CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) officially unveiled its new SD70 soil compactor, expanding its soil compaction portfolio with a machine designed to balance performance and cost efficiency for contractors and rental fleets.
The SD70 is a 7-ton, 66-inch single drum roller that delivers the same proven drum performance as the SD75, while featuring a simplified design to optimize total cost of ownership. Powered by a 74 hp Tier IV Final engine, the machine provides strong torque at low rpm, ensuring efficient operation with reduced fuel consumption. Its advanced drum control system offers multiple frequencies, dual amplitudes, and optimized centrifugal force, enabling consistent compaction results across varying jobsite conditions.
Operator comfort and productivity are enhanced through an ergonomically designed platform with excellent all-around visibility, along with an optional canopy for added protection. Built with durability in mind, the SD70 shares key heavy-duty components—such as the drum, engine, and hydraulic systems—across Volvo’s compaction range, ensuring reliable performance in demanding environments.
To further support uptime, the machine features ground-level service access for simplified maintenance.
